Neck Pain

Most people experience neck pain at some point in their life. This is not surprising considering seven small cervical vertebrae and the muscles surrounding them have to hold up and balance your head, which can weigh 10-12 pounds.

Neck pain intensity can vary from minor pain caused by such things as sleeping wrong or poor posture to severe pain caused by trauma such as a car accident or sports injury.

Minor neck pain will usually clear up on its own within 24 hours. If your neck pain lasts more than a day it is important to schedule a chiropractic evaluation to determine the cause of your pain and if you can benefit from chiropractic treatment.

Chiropractic treatment for neck pain consists of restoring proper motion to cervical spine by specific controlled adjustments to the misaligned vertebrae and by therapy or techniques to the surrounding soft tissues to decrease muscle spasm and improve flexibility.

Exercises will also be prescribed to help maintain proper alignment between treatments.
